Warm welcome to this section called: "Multimodal task about 'Instructional Strategies for Online Teaching in COVID-19 Pandemic"'. In this section you will read a multimodal class that I design with the article done by Samreen Mahmood

Multimodal class:

Objectives: To identify technical and pedagogical issues at virtual class in pandemic time.

To explore virtual class strategies according to the text “Instructional Strategies for Online Teaching in COVID-19 Pandemic” to propose different ideas in Colombian virtual education.

 

Hello students I hope you have an excellent day; in this section I will post some memes and videos according to pandemic virtual classes and you will do the following:

1.       In memes, you will write your interpretation to each meme in the comment box below.

2.       In videos, you will watch Youtube videos and write 3 or 5 important ideas for each in the comment box below.

After that you will open an account on http://www.knovio.com/ and you will create three PowerPoint slides, use images as possible; On knovio, you will record a 3 to 5-minute recording talking about: your experience in virtual classes when pandemic issue happened; similarities between memes and videos seen previously; and a proposal that you can apply using not only techniques that the text “Instructional Strategies for Online Teaching in COVID-19 Pandemic” expressed but your own techniques. Once you have recorded the video on Knovio, you need to go to “Share” and copy the link and paste it on google classroom as a post. Lastly, you will react to two classmates’ knovio post.

  4. Dear Alejandro, I find the topic interesting. You combine different modes of communication and your lesson includes an objective and instruction. You missed the grading criteria. About the task itself, I think it overuses resources. Check out the number of memes and videos. This is overwhelming for a student. The assignment needs to balance the number of images, video and so on. At the aesthetic level it is neither appealing. Two memes and one video clip would have been enough to make your point. I also see that you did not reply to your classmates. They make interesting points!
